April 2025 Mayor's Message

April is the first full month of spring, and despite the rain that is sure to come (maybe even a little bit of snow) we are starting our annual construction and improvement work in the Village. The Darbyview project is wrapping up. Work will be starting soon on this year’s Main street/sewer project on Depot and adjacent streets.

A quick update on our parks. We are close to completing our park facelifts. The new restrooms at Westwood Park will be fully functional and usable as soon as the sewer materials come in and can be installed. The HBM Library just put up a new picture book along the Storybook Trail and will continue to update that several times a year. The work at Converse this year is exciting. The new Pickleball and Basketball courts are in. The existing playground equipment will be

replaced soon. The designs for the new concessions/restroom area are being finalized. We are

hoping to turn our retention pond in the back into a nice water feature with a handicap accessible walking path, and hopefully a place to have our Village fishing derbies. Our three parks are all reflections of the kind of place the Village of West Jefferson strives to be. A wonderful combination of old and new, vibrant and inviting.
